TRUE LOVE WAITS

"Oprah winfrey" got married yesterday. ok for the benefit of those who are now really puzzled and frantically going online to check out the news, "oprah winfrey" is the nickname given by laoban to my youngest aunt (mum's side) and has been used by all when we refer to her in a conversation. And yeah...she DOES look like Oprah! :)

I guess we all have heard the saying "better late than never?" no kidding. this totally applies to her situation. hold on tight...this is what might rock you....my aunt is about 60 years old!!! (nope..not kidding and she definitely DOES NOT look it at all!! She is so modern, young looking and really fun loving - our FAVORITE aunt who supports us at EVERY calvary production!) This is her FIRST MARRIAGE! The guy she married is a Canadian and they courted for like more than 15 years - many of the years were spent apart cos he worked as a teacher in various countries like Kuwait etc

yeah...i hear ya...my sentiments exactly ... why didn't get married earlier? i dunno. perhaps she really wanted to be sure? i dunno... but seriously, i think this is the case of TRUE LOVE WAITS! and "better late than never" is really a phrase that is so apt for the occasion.

Trying to process my thoughts over the event...never have I attended a wedding where the bride and groom are in their later years and it is the bride's first marriage. yeah..there were mixed feelings in the room i guess as i have another aunt that is older and isn't married... but i guess i am happy for oprah. i could tell she was overjoyed though many times she was speechless and spacey. they say the eyes are the windows to your soul...yup..her teary eyes told all of us that this was the day she had looked forward to... for a very long time. Yeah TRUE LOVE WAITS. wow...now that's really something to stew over. Ok...don't get me wrong... i'm not advocating that everyone now waits 15 years or more before they get married! hahah!!

On a lighter note..here's one advise from me...NEVER get your marriage ceremony conducted at the ROM. OMGosh! the ceremony is only like 5 min long. you whiz in and out ...wondering what hit you at the end of the time in the registry office! oprah and her husband both said they really didn't remember even what the vows were and they had to go through them again at the dinner to make it more meaningful!! goodness...those vows are meant for life. it is pertinent that one is sure what one is committing to!

AND... i think Ms swan could conduct the ceremony better than the officiant at the registry office! the officiant was an old lady who looked like she was super bored with what she was doing (she probably was actually...considering that this is all that she does for the WHOLE DAY, THE WHOLE WEEK, THE WHOLE YEAR...HER WHOLE LIFE!) ahaha. and guess what? yeah. her ENGRISH was really powderful. i think she tried to slang a little as she saw that the groom was ang mo...golly.... half the time i was biting my lower lip to prevent myself from bursting out in peels of laughter! the poor groom had to literally tilt his head towards her and try reeaally hard to concentrate on hearing what she was saying. And before you could let out a sneeze, the ceremony was over. so weird.

my point...don't have your ceremony at ROM. have it in church! let pastor lau conduct it for you :). take your time...get Superman & Wonderwoman (junior) to sing "I PROMISE" or "I WILL BE HERE" at your wedding..."i'll be together'...haha. after all it's only ONCE in a LIFETIME! hahaha!
